Professional Experience
  • Presently I am in private practice for the past 10 years and is Working as a consultant at Masonic hospital for Children, Coimbatore 18 for the past five years. (January 2015 to date) .
  • I also worked as consultant Speech –Language Pathologist & Audiologist at Karpagam Medical College Hospital from 20.11.2012 to 15.10.2013. Worked in Smile training project for children with Cleft Palate and Lip at GKNM Hospital , Coimbatore.
  • More than 32yrs (05-09-1997 to 31-03-2010.) of experience as Speech Therapist in Tamil Nadu. Govt. Medical Services. (Govt. General Hospital, Chennai and Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, Coimbatore)
  • Two years’ experience as Consultant Speech Pathologist & Audiologist in few special Schools at Chennai. (Clinical and Research work, teaching the students of Undergraduate & Post-graduate Medical/Non- medical, and Rehabilitation professional courses, University examiner, Industrial Audiology, inter-disciplinary team member in Smile Train project work etc are part of my regular work)

  • ISHA awarded Bharat Award in 2009.
  • Recipient of Padmashri Prof. S.Kameswaran Endowment oration award constituted by Indian Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA) on 20.01.2012.
  • Organized and conducted national conferences of Indian Speech and Hearing Association at Coimbatore in1997 and at Chennai in 2012. I was the chairman of the Conference in both of these occasions.
  • Recipient of Rotary Foundation Scholarship (1989-90) to study at Memphis state university, U.S.A.
  • Instrumental in starting a special school for children with disabilities, an N.G.O. called Kovai Rehabilitation and Information Services for the Handicapped (KRISH) in 1984. It successfully and satisfactorily ran for 32 years at Coimbatore and was transferred to other agency in 2016. KRISH offered fulltime rehabilitation services to more than 800 children with varying types of disabilities.
  • Though I was not directly involved in running an undergraduate training program, I was associated with such institutions on many occasions as Guest faculty, as a resource person, an examiner for question paper setting / paper correction, member of board of studies in Audiology and Speech-Language pathology. I was a member of expert committee for preparing syllabus of BASLP (Bachelor of Audiology and Speech- Language Pathology) conducted by Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai on 27.07.2007.
  • T.N Govt’s Examiner for Senior and Junior Diploma courses of Special Education (Mental Retardation) , B.Ed and M.Ed (Special Education ), T.N.P.S.C., Speech Therapists selection Exam , T.N. Open University’s BASLP Exams.
  • Published several articles in professional Journals, Newspapers and given Radio talks.
  • Assisted in preparation of widely used Communication module of Adaptive behavior assessment scale –‘UPANAYAN’ and its manual for Madhuram Narayan Centre, Chennai which is run by Sanmar Group of Companies, Chennai.
  • Attended and Organized many camps and exhibitions for Speech, Language and Hearing problems. Helped in guiding and establishing few special schools for children with disabilities.
  • Attended many professional conferences, Seminars, In-service training programs, Refresher courses etc. Some sessions were Chaired / co-Chaired by me.
  • Conducted several public Education Programs on Disability including “Prevention of disabilities”,” Training regular teachers on early identification and intervention of Learning Disabled Children”. etc.
  • All my family members are rehabilitation professionals comprising Speech & Hearing, Special Education, and Clinical Psychology.
