Indian Women Network (IWN) of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Coimbatore Child Trust Hospital jointly conducted an awareness programme at ALG Matriculation School, in which close to 700 persons including students and parents participated.
Managing director of the hospital K. Neminathan spoke on the importance of cleaning hands. He called it the most cost efficient way to avoid the spread of various diseases and infections.
“Proper adherence to hand washing as a practice has proved to be effective in bringing down chances of diarrhoea by 50 per cent,” he said. “Persons suffering from infections should wash their hands so that they don’t spread the infections. Those who don’t have infections should also frequently wash hands to stay away from contracting it,” Dr. Neminathan said.
